A comprehensive evaluation is often the first step towards finding solutions to ongoing difficulties and helping to create a better life. A psychological assessment is comprised of several components including a clinical interview, behavioral observation, and a variety of standardized psychological tests measuring different aspects of one’s functioning such as intelligence, academic achievement, attention, memory, and emotional, social, and behavioral functioning. Considering the wide range of tests available, the process can be individualized; therefore, a test battery can be tailored to the needs of each individual. The goal of the psychological evaluation is to give the individual or family feedback about one’s current functioning and provide recommendations necessary to improve one’s functioning.
